On living with no regrets

If you could meet a future version of yourself, say 5-10-20-40 years from now, would there be anything she’d regret not doing in life?⠀

Can you think of something you can do today to prevent that regret?⠀

Maybe it's starting from a few small steps towards accomplishing that certain thing.⠀

Or maybe it's slowly integrating the idea that it's not something that you truly want anymore.⠀

Because whatever it is, you do not want to wake up one day realizing you missed out.⠀

You deserve living a fulfilling life, one that is an expression of your most beautiful dreams, that when you look back at it, you have no regrets.⠀

In Jay Shetty's book "Think like a monk" he shares about a study of an Australian nurse, who spent several years caring for patients during the last 12 weeks of their lives, on their regrets.⠀

These were the top 5:⠀

  1. I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.⠀

  2. I wish I hadn't worked so hard.⠀

  3. I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.⠀

  4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.⠀

  5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.⠀

After reading this, I wondered what it is that I may regret.⠀

While the above 5 are already work in progress, what came up for me was my dream of living on a tropical island for a while.⠀

2 months later, either the stars aligned, or we aligned them, and both my partner and I found ourselves in life circumstances that could support that dream.⠀

So here we are, in the middle of nowhere, in the South Pacific Ocean, in the French Polynesia, in paradise.⠀

We don’t know how long it will last, maybe a few weeks, maybe a few months. But we went for it and are trying it out.⠀

And I gotta tell you- it’s super exciting, something that I want for you too.⠀

Maybe not to live on an island, but yes to live a life that you are excited about.⠀

One that will leave you with no regrets.

And if you want this for yourself too, but don’t know where to start- I’d love to support you.
