Intro to Facial Tools

September 15, 2020

If you're not familiar with my story, one of the main reasons I'm here with you today is the facial acne I had growing up. It was the trigger to my holistic health journey, and why I eventually also got hooked on the natural non-toxic approach to skin care.

It took me quite some time to do the transition and find products I trust and work good for me. In those, I also fell in love with facial tools. Gua Shas are one of them.

"Facial Gua Sha is an ancient healing technique within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that visibly rejuvenates the skin through light pulling + lifting massage motions using a smooth gemstone tool.

It works with the skin to support and optimize the body’s own reparative functions by promoting lymphatic drainage, calming the nervous system, relieving muscle tension + tightness, clearing congestion + buildup, and increasing the flow of oxygen and vital nutrients to the skin." - Primally Pure

In order to properly use them you need to first apply a facial serum to your face and then you massage it in using the tool.

These are what I use, each have different healing benefits and come with how-to videos and tutorials.

Jade Gua Sha Stone - from Primally Pure

This one is my favorite!

About the stone

This serpentine stone is beneficial to help you clear blocked or stagnant energy. Green healing crystals are among the most powerful stones for physical and emotional healing. They evoke a warm and nurturing energy and represent growth and renewal, as well as emotional balance.

The Empress Stone - by Wildling

About the stone

The Empress is composed of Bian stone, an amalgamate of 40+ minerals known for their healing properties. Known for its rejuvenating properties, Bian stone was created when a meteor struck a mountain in ancient China. It is said to emit ultrasound pulsations, far infrared rays, and negative ions as a result of the cosmic impact - all of which are known for their antioxidant and anti-aging effects on cells and DNA.

Rose Quartz roller

About the stone

The rose quartz stone is a crystal of the heart and unconditional love. It carries a soft feminine energy of compassion and peace, tenderness and healing, nourishment and comfort. It has inherent minerals- silicium, magnesium, iron, sodium and oxygen- that the skin can topically borrow and benefit from when rolling.
